Competition Day

We just finished our 2024 competition on Thursday, April 4th and Friday, April 5th 2024 at McCutchanville Elementary School in Evansville!

Dates for 2025 are TBD (as well as facility). Hoping to get that locked down soon! 

These were competition day details for 2024:

Arrive & check-in each day 3:45-4:00pm. End time will be 7:30pm each day.

Thursday, April 4th

Battles ~4:30-7:30 with a scheduled break to eat

Friday, April 5th (exact timing will confirm closer to date)

Battles ~4:30-5:30, then a break to eat 5:30-6, & 6-6:15pm line up & prepare for celebration

Readers' Celebration 6:15-7:30pm (Families/friends welcome for this portion!!!)

Teams will report 3:45-4:00 and will be directed to where their first battle will begin. A video will be shared afterwards so that family & friends can see the excitement of our Parade of Readers, celebrating all participants. 

Readers' Celebration Details

Parade of Readers at the beginning- teams & coaches parade into gym with any team spirit signs they have.

  T-Shirt Design Contest Judge will present our design winner with an award (pictured below is Kristi Valiant, illustrator from a past competition):

Announce top teams & top 2 teams come to front for awards. Then, they compete in a Readers' Celebration battle on stage.

Our overall message: we hope everyone had fun reading the books and congratulate all of our readers for reading high-quality books and taking time to prepare for the competition!
